Horse Microbiome Research 0 J. Williams Research on the Horse's Microbiome. Similar to the human, the horse's gut has numerous bacteria that carry out various activities and maintain normal functioning. Help fund this crowd funding research project and others to determine the "normal microbiome" for the horse. The current study investigates the effect of worms and de-worming medications on the horse's microbiome (bacterial population of the digestive tract). This research is being carried out on horses just like yours--training, competing, traveling to competition and training venues. Ultimately, we hope to determine how stress might destabilize the microbiome and what can be done to help maintain it for the health of the horse. We would like to have samples from foals.  Please let us know if you are having foals this year and willing to collect samples for us.  We will provide a 50 pound bag of feed of your choice for 2 weeks worth of foal fecals (feed for fecals)! Please contact me if you have questions.  Thank you! Jan Williams
