I am writing this under the pressure of a deadline which is today! The reason I am cutting it so close is that I had planned to do this over the weekend…..but it was almost 70 degrees, which in February is cause to get outdoors and enjoy!
The good weather made it abundantly clear that it is shedding season in New England! Shedding season means that show season is just around the corner. So get out your shedding blades and your entry forms. Your Omnibus will be arriving in early March to help with your planning.
The NEDA Spring Show will be held on May 13 and 14th at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. New this year is that the show has been changed to two separate Level 2 Competitions held on consecutive days, NEDA Spring I on Saturday and NEDA Spring II on Sunday, providing you with more opportunities to earn qualifying scores.
Both shows will be Qualifiers for Regional Championships. The change will make it easier for competitors to earn qualifying scores at 2 shows on the same weekend, providing more opportunities to qualify for Regional Championships. However, NEDA Spring Show will no longer be a qualifier for all the different National Championships. Past entries did not warrant continuing at the level required to be a qualifier for National Championships. Entries open for NEDA Spring show on March 27th.
The NEDA Spring Schooling Show will be held at The FARM in Tewksbury, MA on May 21st. This is a wonderfully well-run show in a supportive environment to try out a new level or as an entry point for someone new to dressage shows. Entries open for the Spring Schooling Show on April 1st.
If it is too early for you to show we can always use extra hands to join our wonderful group of smart, cheerful volunteers who help to make our shows run smoothly. It is a fun way to get involved and meet people who share your passion for dressage. If you are interested in volunteering please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
By now you may have heard that Olympic Gold Medalist Carl Hester, MBE is coming to New England to headline the 2017 NEDA Fall Symposium on October 14 and 15 at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. Ticket sales will open to NEDA members first before the general public as there is a strong possibility that the event will sell out. Online ticket purchasing for members only begins May 31, 2017. Details for the event can be found on the NEDA website neda.org.
We have an exciting year ahead. We look forward to seeing you at the shows and events. Thank you for your support of NEDA as members and volunteers. If you are interested in getting more involved please contact me directly or email@example.com.
